The Almost Saturday Review

Nature is calling. No, not that kind.

It's the kind when the warm weather arrives and one's nature spirit gets the itch to get out in earthquake country and pray for some action. I may not have this entirely correct, but it is nearly a Full Moon, (I noticed this because hair is starting to grow on the back of Don's hands) which suggests there's a lot of tugging going on around the world. For me, I'm going to wear a lot of clothes with zippers so the gravitational pull won't leave me bare or if I get irritated, then it's bear.

The burning desire to return to fertile ground means Don and I are off to Parkfield again to tend to the Gardens of Stone. Oh Lord, please protect us from big bad dogs. I'm taking my Sammy this time and promise photos will follow. I want to see his reaction when he see's Parkfield again. He gets so excited. I think I'll take him to the new USGS building so he can look around. I'm not sure if he knows what a seismologist is, but if Richard is present, I'll introduce him.

In addition to Don packing his Glock, we're also going to take along a box of earthquake preparedness brochures which one of my sponsors, State Farm Insurance cheerfully donated. It's hard to believe in the Earthquake Capital of the World they have no reading material about earthquake safety. Soon, that will change.

I should have posted a prediction for Parkfield because this time around we won't be staying there. That improves the odds considerably. So, I'll just throw in a little guess here. How about the possibility of a 1.7 on Saturday? With the Full Moon, perhaps a solar event and we two on the outskirts of town, it may bring on a hit? One never really knows.

Now I know Don is really a cowboy. Tonight he is wearing his faded blue jeans, cowboy boots, his Levi jacket and his ten-gallon hat. Now all he needs is a six shooter instead of that 15 shooter he carries, and he would look like someone from out of the old west. But honestly, I flatly refuse to dress like Annie Oakley, despite his urging's. In the apparel department, nothing short of Out of Africa will suffice. If it was good enough for Glen Close to go from riding the range to dining in the same apparel, then it works for me. I was going to make some miniature seismowear for Sammy, but my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. So he has to go bear everywhere. (You'll know what I mean when we share the photos).

So Happy Easter weekend to all of you. Those who live in CA, don't forget to warm up the BBQ, it will be perfect weather for the first event.
