On March 8, Don forecast an event in the Pakistan/Hindu Kush region. This was followed By a forecast by Shan for the same region made on March 14. Following is a comparison Of those forecasts with the event of March 18, 2002. Don also came mighty close on his Chitral Pakistan forecast. He had said: F: 17MAR2002 +/- 2 days 36.4N 71.6E Ml 3.8-5.1 Chitral, Pakistan (within 65 km) The following earthquake was reported: O: 18Mar2002 07:03:18 36.3N 70.5E ML=4.0 ASC HINDU KUSH, AFGHANISTAN This event matches Don's time and magnitude window and is about 65 km to the west Of his forecast epicenter (just within the limit). Another successful forecast. A forecast for this region was also made by Shan. See: http://www.earthwaves.org/wwwboard/messages/13695.html That forecast had been: F: 15MAR2002 +/- 1 days 36.3N 70.0E Ml 4.5-5.0 Hindu Kush Region (within 150 km) The recorded event is 2 days outside Shan's time window, and smaller than expected. It Is closer to Shan's forecast epicenter (about 35 km) than to Don's however. When two Forecasts are made for the same time and location, the first always is considered original, the Second is usually considered a modificaton of the first. Don's original forecast: http://www.earthwaves.org/wwwboard/messages/13508.html Chitral, Pakistan Earthquake Forecast Posted by Don In Hollister on March 08, 2002 at 02:17:29: Magnitude: 3.8-5.0Ml From: 03/15/2002UTC - To: 03/19/2002 Location: Chitral, Pakistan Lat: 36.4N - Long: 71.6E - Range: 65Km Hi All.
