Andreanoff Islands (Ms 5.5-6) this morning or Mindanao last night

The eartone I recorded on this board at 06:18 UT occurred about 2 minutes after a Mb 5.5
in Mindanao, Philippines and about 30 minutes before the start of foreshocks to the
Andreanoff Islands earthquake of Ms 5.5-6 this morning.
The coincidence with the Mindanao event suggests a possible relation, but the seismic
waves had not yet arrived at my location from that event (they would have arrived about
2 minutes after the posting of the eartone notice to this board), so if there is a relation,
some other mechanism must be involved.
The Andreanoff Islands earthquake this morning may be a foreshock to something
larger (it in turn was preceded by foreshocks of Ms 4.5 and 4.4). I am still a bit
bothered by that sequence of eastern U.S/Canada events yesterday and the day
before. That kind of sequence often precedes an event in the Alaska region - but
the Alaska event is usually much larger than the one that occurred this morning.

This points out the importance of logging ear tones as they occur. There appear
to be 4 explanations for the ear tone which might be related to seismic activity.
1) An immediate effect from the Mindanao event; 2) a precursor to the Andreanoff
Islands earthquake; 3) a precursor to something yet to happen or 4) a meaningless
coincidence.

If ear tones are ever to be sorted out and a relationship found, hundreds of such
examples are needed. So don't give up yet, the best may still be coming.
