Canie,
Copyrights are really difficult, especially for people such as myself using govenrment
facilities.
Technically, no material produced at a government facility can be copyrighted - at
least that is the case of material produced here. This is because taxpayer money
is used to produce these materials so they ought to be freely available to those who
paid for them.
This leaves me in a bit of a bind, now that Petra has spelled out the copyright law
as applied to web sites such as this.
Although I am an unpaid employee here, I do use government computers and facilities
to produce the daily reports. This places them in the "no copyright" regulation. If
this copyright restriction on this site cannot be relaxed, I am afraid that much of
what I post here using these facilities will have to stop.
We have been through this copyright mill around here several times in the past
several years, and the lawyers have been quite clear about it - no copyrights on
material produced in government facilities.
Any thoughts?
