I should hate to think of that one getting into the standard explanation as it was only the first thought I had about it. That's the trouble with ideas on this scale they are unrepeatable in the lab. Another thing is that in the absence of a better idea is no-one comes up with the truth if the erroneous one is acceptable. Take the coriolis effect theory. It sounds logical. It seems to work and it is completely accepted. But it's not true. Or at lerast it's not tha whole answer. The earth does not spin in a circle. As the earth is moving it spins and orbits. So the true course of the fixed object on the surface is an helix / locus. Not that it makes any differenc to an hurricane. However, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea. Got any more?
