Re: Earthquake Summary for March 5, 2002 |
Hi Lowell, Of all of the suggestions regarding delivering earthquake warnings I could not agree with you more that they belong with the weather forecast. On the Weather Channel in my area every night with the 11PM weather update they also report the daily earthquakes on the West Coast. I am so glad to see this because it is a reminder to all that we do live in earthquake country. It also provides a way to find out besides TV news, which does not include any information on moderate to small earthquakes. Yesterday when I got home I finally got an acknowledgement from the Office of Emergency Services that they had received my suggestion for Public Service Announcements and had directed it to the person who handles such matters. My original e-mail had been sent on January 18th. As they say, better late than never. But I do hope they move it along before the next significant EQ hits this state. So here's my version of tomorrow's weather report: Forecast for Willits, CA. High's mid 60's, low mid 40's, 60% chance for rain. Also a chance for a 3.2 to 3.5 earthquake.
