Don,
The pictures you are referring to are classic and yes, I have seen them. However,
for the benefit of other board readers, I think you might want to scan them and
have Canie post them where they can be viewed.
When I first encountered those pictures I checked the date and time against
major geomagnetic storms. I cannot be positive as memory has a way of turning
things around, but it seems to me that those EQL occurred during a strong aurora
caused by a major geomagnetic storm. Since they look very much like a strong
aurora, it is difficult for me to accept that they are EQL instead of the Aurora Borealis.
Do you have a date the pictures were taken - I believe Derr included these in his
BSSA paper with a date if you don't have it. For more information between Aurora
