Re: Regarding ear tone data

Thanks for the nice comments Nancy. What is happening is that I have an earthquake forecasting program which I feel is both operational and valuable. However it obviously does not yet work well enough (and probably never will) to enable us to spot the approach of all of our destructive earthquakes and get people out of their way. I could not generate any good location data for that deadly Turkey earthquake which occurred earlier this month. Improvements are being made a step at a time. And one of them involves more detailed communications through this bulletin board which I myself consider to be an invaluable resource for the earthquake forecasting community.

There are some growing pains at the moment. But Canie is doing a good job of maintaining a bulletin board environment which is free of the much of the highly destructive posting activity which can be found elsewhere.

For the benefit of other people reading this note I will point out that along with Rev. Bob Shannon, Nancy is one of the veterans of these earthquake boards. A few others are posting notes to the Yahoo EarthWaves board and elsewhere. I am curious about what the moderator of the first board is doing these days. She did a great job of getting the ball rolling when these types of communications resources were still in an infancy stage and notes like the ones being posted here had to be circulated by automated e-mail systems.
