The ABC 6:00pm local news (my channel 7) reported that numerous reports were being called into the Southern California Gas company regarding the presence of an unfamiliar odor eminating throughout the LA Basin.

The reports began in East Los Angeles and have spread as far east as Chino. The Gas Company reports that there are no major leaks and there are no reports of industrial leaks.

The Gas company has ruled out natural gas because natural gas - from the Earth - is odorless. The Gas Company, however, states that the gas is takign a cloud like formation because of the dispersion of the gas.

As of 6:00pm this was a breaking story.

As the matter has no immediate artificial or industrial origins, it reminds me a bit of the ground water and petroleum swells noted preceding some of the quakes in the mid-1800s.
