Hi All,

I have to share this story because I think it shows the gravity of some situations and how little some people actually think before they act.

Back in the days when I was getting my divorce, for a time I was acting as my own attorney, which I called myself, "Attorney At Will." I had finally convinced the near ex that we should seek mediation and I was having an e-war with the ex's attorney. I had told him that I had sought out some competent medical advice and determine my ex was suffering from mental problems. But I also told him that the winds of change were at hand and that he had better get a grip.

He decided to play a nasty and sent that e-mail to the ex. It caused the ex to fail to meet at mediation, but it gave me great concern about whether or not my life was again in danger. About a month later we finally made it to mediation, but not until that ex's attorney suddenly droppped out and refused to communicate with anyone. So I told him if he refused to divulge where the legal fund was I was going to have him arrested for embezzlement. Within a week the money was released.

So after the divorce, one day Don and I were in the neighborhood of this scum attorney and I told Don I felt like going in, impromptu and reaming him. So Don said, "why not." So I walked in and introduced myself under my current name, which didn't allow him the priviledge of knowing who I was and he was at first very gracious and rather nice.

I explained that he placed my life in danger by playing that little e-mail snafu and I thought it wasn't such a good idea that he do so in the future. At first he stood firm in his convictions that he would continue and then when I reminded him that often attorneys are shot by divorcing people who have great mental stress, then he acquiessed.

It took five attorneys to divorce two people who were just average folks at a cost of $22,500. Truly amazing.

Not all attorneys are bad, but there are to many out there giving the rest of the good ones a bad name.

Petra
