Santa Rosa Ear Tone Match
Posted by Petra Challus on February 02, 2002 at 10:03:08:

Hi All,

Here's the quake data and my ear tone report to Don which matches. This quake wasn't on the Rodgers Creek Fault but in an area that is just to the east known as Bennett Valley. I ran a catalog search which is listed below for your review. This area had a very volcanic past which included oozing volcanos. It is also in the same area where I made a damage inspection for a home which was heavily damaged in the 9/22/99 4.3 quake. In my rock collection I have a volcanic bomb from this area that looks like an oversized potato with a small scoop in the center.

The faulting in this area is like a line with forks that run off of it. I have no idea what the maximum quake potential is, but I suspect it could be up to a 5.5, perhaps. Maybe Chris might be able to give us some input on this aspect. Petra

Hi Don,
I had a left ear tone lasting approximately 1/2 second. It was very soft in volume.
