Simi Valley Ear Tone Match

Hi All,

I'm posting my e-mail report I sent to Don on 1/17 which is a match for the Simi Valley 4.2 quake.

Using our new ring map, this places the Simi Valley and Valencia area just twenty miles from the 8 second ring. I also had another ear tone in December that lasted 8 seconds, but it was much louder.

Hi Don,

I had a right ear tone which was a higher frequency than the one I heard the other day. Moderately loud. The length of the tone is in question due to the TV set volume being rather high. I believe it lasted a solid 8 seconds at the higher volume and then reduced about 5 seconds before it ended.

At 8 seconds it places the quake around Ventura due south, SSE to Tehachapi and SE to the Coso Range. Given the higher frequency it should be interesting to see what epicenters these tones match up to.
Again it should be > 4.5 mag.

A copy of this e-mail was sent to Canie today. I hesitated last night in making a post because I still wasn't sure this was all that was going to occur last night.

I am not sure what the trailing off lower sound denotes at this time. But I have found previously that the tones match the louder sound in distance calculation.

Lowell used to say my intuition was often more accurate than my ear tones and last night was rather interesting. I decided to write a piece about my thoughts on earthquake prediction for my web site and as soon as I took a break, I took a look at the quake map and there was the Simi Valley quake. Just the night before I posted a message here about the 29 Palms area and the order of my message was the same. Interesting I think.
