A link with a list of earthquakes around the Congo/Rwanda volcanos, and photos. Prof. Ngechu may be overstating things for the eastern Rift branch in Kenya (although I can't tell if he meant that from what Don passes on). I think the Virunga volcanos MAY be the only ones in the western Branch except for dormant volcanoes between Lake Rukwa and Malawi far to the south. Lots of volcanos along and to the side of the eastern Branch-but that is a very long distance away-I guess some of the thoughts on this page (and even now the "community" would allow that distant volcanos might be "tickled" by the M4-5 earthquakes.....). I think that all this magma motion and the M4s are tickling the rift border faults along Lake Tanganyika and north a bit harder.
