After 12 days of activity, the 5 january 02 eruption suddenly highly
reduced lava emission on january 16 at 16:10 and eruption tremor stopped at
19:10. Large number of long period events were still observed about 48
hours below summit and "La Plaine des Osmondes", indicating presence of
magma beneath the NE rift zone.
