I think Landers and Hector were about 29 miles apart (34.5955/-116.2682 for Hector, 34.20/-116.44 for Landers), but that certainly does not make a difference in your arguement. I agree, and would guess, that faults talk to each other. No question about that in my mind. Everything is connected to everything else at one level or another, especially adjacent faults. Just look at the evidence of the FFA theory, and those are large distances!
