Re: To: Turkey area earthquake forecasters

One of the main problems with earthquake forecasting efforts involves finding people who are interested in keeping track of the accuracy and value of forecasts for different areas. If that Turkey forecasting group is interested then perhaps we could begin posting to this board some of the forecasts for that part of the world which are being generated by different groups and individuals around the world. We could then see how good the matches are between the forecasts and the earthquakes occurring in that area.

My personal earthquake forecasting program has not been operational since the beginning of the year when some important data became temporarily or permanently unavailable. That program is presently undergoing several major upgrades which will hopefully be completed in a week or two. A shift is being made to a much more powerful computer. And instead of relying on ocean tide data for a single location (104E), information from three or four locations around the world will be used including data for Los Angeles (about 120W) and Puerto Rico (about 65W) as well as Solid Earth Tide data for several locations.

One earthquake researcher has just made an English language translation available for his Web site. I myself have not yet examined it in detail. It can be found at:

These are my own opinions.
