The folks over at SCEC have several animations of various quake series. Maybe ask them? Or check their site for a preexisting animation...

There has been a hypothesis out there that the plate boundary is attempting to re-define itself to get around the bends in the fault - The locked area even extends further south than San Bernadino Don. The Landers and Hector quakes have lend itself to this thought process.
