Re: Quake Groups - Clusters And Swarms |
Hi Petra - I didn't notice the Milipitas quakes but I did see the others. As for Calexico and Madison WY - I think both of those are probably geothermal fluid type action so not to worry (and boy could I be wrong.. but...) The Berkeley is an interesting sequence and does warrant watching - Good ol'd Mother Earth though takes her own sweet time with these matters. As an example we've been having a number of occasional little quakes up to 4. in the Yorba Linda area now for a couple of years. I'd say the area is going to let loose and surprise everyone with a good sized shaker sometime in the near future (1-2 years?) but who knows when? And then all those little ones we've been having near the intersection of the Newport-Inglewood and the Santa Monica fault warrants watching too. Our seismicity has appeared to increase a bit lately and the clock just seems to be ticking down to another good one. But I do think its Northern California's turn for a good shaker - after all your last big one was 1989 right? We've had Landers/Big bear, Northridge and Hector - its your turn!
