East Coast

The east coast has as dramatic changes as the west. My mother and father took me all along the coast from Ohio to Jersey then down to Florida, every year. Each year I could tell the changes...First it would be a house gone...or a new store... or a complex of buildings and in the other direction...some beach gone...I never knew why until I was older...storms!

To me...there are two things I dislike about the east coast...#1---Private land has destroyed much of the access to the ocean..We used to drive down A1A in Florida all along the oceanfront. Similar with the mid coast..Now? Houses...Mansions...private beaches..private clubs...

In California we were both darned and blessed by the Coastal Commision...Made it impossible to build without going through the hoops....BUT it saved ocean access...and still does...try and put an offshore oil-rig on the NorCoast of Cal...See if anybody complains:-) LOTS.

Nice thing about the east coast is that the ocean is a much milder temperature...Pacific swimming is barely possible for most...Nice to walk along the beach, build a fire of driftwood, roast a hotdog and collect sand dollars...On the otherhand...the east coast... is warm, but little access...so .....If I had a beach house on the east coast I would insure it heavily..Of course I would have to be mega rich to have it anyway... and west coast.... well even the rich cannot afford it....but all the people can see the ocean and walk the beach.... I spent many a winter day watching 25' swells come into the Mendocino Headlands.....The power is yours!
