Keep Your Fingers Crossed |
Hi All, I like to say adventures are made, not had. But this time, my fourth trip to Parkfield, it wouldn't hurt if you guys kept your fingers crossed and maybe a little extra to insure a bonafide quake arrives while Don and I are there. As these events from what others have told me who have been at Parkfield during a quake, they can rather rattle one's nerves. I don't think I'd get to rattled, but more likely break into a cheer or a chant. However, just to be sure my nerves will be calm and Don's as well, I bought some insurance today. I figured one quart of Margaritaville Tequila, a bottle of margarita mix, one bottle of bloody mary mix, six limes and some salt ought to do it. Now on the serious side. I printed off the chart of where all of the data sites are located (there are no signs as you can imagine) so we can find them with Don's new toy, his GPS receiver. That should be fun. And despite Don's complaints about my rock collecting I'll sneak in a few anyway. (Lucille Ball has nothing on me.) So here's to another great adventure, earthquake chasing, what Don and I absolutely love to do, in our favorite place, Parkfield. The signs say to be there when it happens, so we're going to give it another try. Believe me when I tell you nothing would give me more pleasure than to be there when the near 6 arrives. What a tale that would be. As Don likes to say, "we'll be off like a herd of Turtles" tomorrow around ten AM. But you can go ahead and think positive earthquake thoughts at any time now. My only hope of course is that Don's Coalinga forecast arrives on time and in Parkfield instead of Coalinga. There's nothing like the BBQ ribs they serve at the Parkfield Cafe for a victory dinner.
