Hi Bob,

I was trying to find something cheerful to think about in the midst of one rainstorm after another. Yesterday they issued a small stream flood and mudslide advisory and everywhere you look around here the farmers fields have standing water in them.

Not every year, but most years we have one week in February, normally around the middle of the month when all of the sudden the weather goes from 50° to 70° and those who like to plant jump out there and start their gardens. Of course a week later it returns to normal.

My first trip to Parkfield near the end of Feb '99 was most pleasurable. At six in the morning I was out taking my power walk and got to see the Sun rise over Middle Mountain and it was spectacular. As there is nothing to do at night in Parkfield except chatterbox you need good weather so you can sit on the porch of the Parkfield Inn, relax in the largest rockers anywhere, have a glass of wine and pray for an earthquake. :-)

On 2/26/99 they had a 4.2, so I went chasing earthquakes hoping the big one was about to arrive. No luck that weekend. Darn.
