Hi Canie. Many years ago I took a tour in and around Mt. Diablo. If one wants to see the forces of nature at work this is the place to go. This is indeed a tortured area. The Mt. Diablo thrust fault is under the mountain so it's not the easiest fault to study. Its location means that when a major quake occurs there it will indeed be a major quake. The area surrounding Mt. Diablo is a very densely populated area.
