I just read that one too yesterday - i think one of the other posts was referencing the new scientist site so I wandered around over there.

Its certainly new - That would have been one presentation that would have been interesting to sit in on. There's so much going on - the plates move, the poles wanderand the magentic field shifts so that's a tough one to prove but time will tell. It sorta makes sense that the hot spot can wander too.
