But indeed, science is a learning process. David seems to have a common misconception; that you formulate a theory and then look for facts to support it.

The opposite is true; you look at the facts and formulate a theory to explain them.

New facts call for revising the theory. That's one difference between science and religion. Religion can't change and so must try to force the facts to fit the gospel (or whatever).
