A series of small earthquakes is occurring at Mt. Hood, OR, this morning. Some of these
are apparently being triggered by surface waves from the Honshu earthquake this
morning. PNSN has thus far located 3 of 7 quakes in the area with the following
parameters:

O: 02DEC2001 14:33:25 45.3N 121.7W ML=1.8 PNSN SSW of Mount Hood, OR
O: 02DEC2001 14:10:05 45.3N 121.7W ML=2.4 PNSN SSW of Mount Hood, OR
O: 02DEC2001 13:34:17 45.3N 121.7W ML=1.0 PNSN SSW of Mount Hood, OR

Mount Hood is located at 68 degrees from the Honshu earthquake
this morning. The LR wave would have arrived at this location at about
13:33 UT, and was accompanied by another event of Ml<1. A minute later
the first event above is listed at Mount Hood.
A very small earthquake also appears to have occurred as the LQ wave
arrived at 13:28.8. As the LQ wave arrived from the the long path
(360-68 degrees) at 15:01 a further disturbance is noted on the seismogram
for Mt. Hood. The other two events and later ones, not yet located
cannot be directly related to surface waves from Honshu.
