The Bishop Ml 2.9 today and Don's Bridgeport forecast
Posted by Lowell on November 29, 2001 at 17:06:18:

Finally, a miss, Don, well, maybe -

NCSN is reporting the following event this evening:

O: 29Nov2001 22:00:53 37.4N 118.5W ML=2.9 NEIS CALIFORNIA-NEVADA BORDER

Don had forecast an earthquake (Post #11322, Nov. 27) for the Bridgeport
California area with the Following parameters:

P: 27-31NOV 40 km 38.2N 119.3W Ml 2.8-4.1 Bridgeport, California.

While the occurring event was in the right general area and was
within the time and magnitude windows, it was on the wrong side
of Mammoth Lakes (SE vs forecast NW of Mammoth Lakes). The distance
from the forecast position is about 110 km from today's event.
Take heart that at least the area is active and you have two more
days left in your window. This is the largest earthquake in the
general Mammoth Lakes region from 38.5-37N 119.5-118W since a Ml 3.0
on Oct 25, also near Bishop. There hasn't been anything in the
Bridgeport area in the magnitude range this year.
