Oh... I was unaware that the USGS was downsized. How long ago did that happen? I know that back in '92 lots of places took downsizing hits....

Well...looks like you have placed it in a good perspective and are having some fun with it to boot. Yes...community (-like) service is important isn't it ....

I guess if you've been at USGS for awhile and then get downsized it is probably tough to get work elsewhere on account of the relatively narrow focus of your work history....(it's sort of an excuse to avoid getting a PHD to avoid "over-specialization" labels....)
