Hi Lowell,

I really like this one. When I was a child I had dyslexia and couldn't remember much of anything. I can recall reading paragraphs in books over and over again to find I could not even remember one bit of what I read before. This was most frustrating. At that time memorization of everything was the heavy emphasis in schooling and dyslexia was an unknown condition. Most thought I was lazy accompanied by a hearing problem. The most peculiar problem was when asked to read aloud I found I skipped the joining words to sentences, leaving out all of the "to, if, when, also and those types of connectors." I saw them, but to speak them eluded me.

In time the dyslexia began to fade, but most of everything that occurred in my childhood I recall vividly. My earliest memory is at age three. Later in life when learning I found often I learned at my peak when I was being taught by a person and I would actually memorize their appearance as they said certain words. Then test fright was tanamount to all of the worst things that could happen in life.

By age 30 or so I realized that I could retain all I read easily, test fright was replaced by a great enthusiasm to get the highest test scores possible and my memory changed from nearly zero at youth to almost photographic. So what made the difference? Learning what I wanted to learn, rather than learning what I had to learn. The pressure involved in having to do something was removed and thus without stress, learning today is most enjoyable.

I don't know how waves of energy could have had any affect upon my brain, but to me to be able to learn any topic easily is one of my greatest pleasures and achievements in life.

When my daughter tells me how difficult high school is, I tell her how difficult school was for her mother with a learning disability and I ask her to disregard the volumous work because she has no reason to do less than the best. Unfortunately, the story has little impact on her. LOL

Thanks for the post, I appreciated it....Petra
