Those are some interesting statistics. The first one that really hits home is the number of schools damaged and the second was having 10 5.0 aftershocks from a 6.4 EQ is rather substantial.

One thing I don't think I'll ever understand is why school buses have no seat belts. Of all the abiguities in life, this one is panamount to shear idoitcy. It took the Long Beach quake to bring about the Field Act, I wonder what it would take to bring about an act requiring seat belts in school buses. Perhaps, parents teaching school districts that "buckle up" includes them as well.
