Do Thrust Faults have reoccurence intervals? |
I know that many if not all strike slip systems have reoccurence intervals. Even if it is unknown what they are, just by default when one looks at their structures of how they are built you can conclude that if they are any decent length they will reoccur. But what about thrust faults? Is it possible that for some thrust systems that a quake like N. Ridge may be a one time shot and that is it? That they ride up that "ramp" and simply stop forever or fall off once it gets to the top? I apologize in advanced to any of you with heavy geophyisics backgrounds who may think this is silly but to the average amatuer, that is the best way I could put it.
