This is why it is important to keep very accurate records of ear tones. I took my time
from the Dept. of Standards, so it is quite accurate. I have now checked and find
that at the moment that I heard this ear tone, there was a strong enhancement
in X-ray flux from the sun. See the link below. Might be one explanation.
