Question About LA Quake

I just looked at USGS again and noticed something very odd. The depth of the first Compton quake (3.7) was much different that that of the second one. One was something like 24 km. deep and the other was something like 3.4 km. deep which I have always heard indicates a crossover from one fault to another. Furthmore, the following quakes run the gamut in depth from about 27 km deep to 0.0 km. deep and everything in between. I would have to gues that this indicates that there is much more at work than a simple mainshock and aftershocks. Anybody want to put my mind at ease?
