Re: Effects from the latest CME arrival on ground motion

I certainly agree that not everything that is published should be believed. Words are
just words until they can be verified. What should be noted here is that the Russians
and Chinese journals treat the interactions between the earth/ionosphere/solar wind/sun
as established fact whereas U.S. geologic journals often treat any relation between
these as so much fantasy. There is a strong conflict here which some day will need
to be resolved. I do not claim that I agree with any claims made in any of these
references and am quite skeptical about many myself. By the way, this is a short
list, the complete list is several hundred more long.
Because the effect is basically sub-solar and anti-solar and concentrated in areas
where charged particles are drawn (the geomagnetic polar regions) along the
magnetic lines of force, the effects should be concentrated in these area, so
seismometers in many areas of the world would see little or no effect, I believe. Hockley
may be particularly sensitive because of local conditions or may be responding to
induced currents. I see a strong change at that instrument at 12:37 - 12:38 UT today.
This was associated with a strong drop in short wavelength solar X-ray flux. See
