Roger,

You need to pay more attention to the details of my notes.

I wasn't talking about Web site programs but rather ones that will run on a PC.

Standard Perl installs and runs great. But to do advanced graphics you apparently need to use the PDL module. And I haven't been able to get it to work properly. So, if a language can't be easily used then there is no sense in recommending it to anyone.

The information that I was given is that both Fortran and Julia can easily do all of those things. With Fortran it might be necessary to link certain libraries to it. But that should not be difficult.

The point is, someone needs to learn how to do those types of things. Then that information can be stored on a Web site. And then everyone should be able to do that with that particular language.

I haven't had time to get back to the Julia people about their language’s capabilities. It appears to be a lot more versatile than Fortran by itself. Unfortunately, they don't have a Newsgroup. So communications with them are not presently as easy as they might be.

As far as your efforts go, you have already checked on several Fortran compilers. And you could ask the Fortran people how to have Fortran generate charts, execute a “sleep” command, read a key press, and send information to active Windows programs as if the information were entered on a keyboard.
