I was in training from about 11 to 14. I was pretty good for what level I got to. *IF* I had continued, the goal was the '88 Olympics, if I continued being as good as I started out.

As for competitive ice skating, I'm disappointed in how the sport has changed. Rule changes years ago eliminated the competition requirement for figure 8's, and ever since the skaters have got sloppy. Figures build precision and grace on the ice. And, I was DARN good at those. was.... Skaters now appear to me to be clunky and forced in their movements.

As for stopping, I used to slide up to the railing sideways on one blade for the last 30 feet, kicking up a nice spray of snow. I have to do it the little kid way now. :)
