To determine it was a bitmap image: I tried to edit the size of the image and Photoshop rejected it while another image program would open it - I then checked the image properties using this image program and it said it was a bitmap -

I wanted to modify the size because it was originally about 1.8MB which is way too large for internet images - jpg's are usually much smaller than that.

It did save the file with the extension of .jpg but that doesn't mean it saves it AS a jpg.... Maybe there are other parameters/flags to give it to have it really be a jpg?
