proposal writing and naps

For your amusement: Wednesday I was trying to write the text of a short proposal and having trouble getting started. By 3 PM I was too sleepy so I took a nap, thinking I would get up at 4 and work on writing. I woke up at 4:30 and thought it was 4:30 AM and could not figure out why it was light so early. I went back to sleep and it was dark at 5:45 or so and I could not figure out at first why it was dark after being light. I think my daughter in living room had to tell me what day it was.

Then, finally Thursday I wrote the whole text (3 pages) in very little time. Needs revision but probably not bad. Is about faults very close to San Diego, for Southern California Earthquake Center Community Fault Model.

It takes me far longer to develop a proposal. Originally I thought I would do it on the Hosgri fault and faults to its west, offshore south-central California. But, someone suggested SCEC would be less interested there (more people working on this fault, not in southern California, less population). Also, I have access to so much data offshore Santa Maria Basin, just can't do the work in 1 or 1/2 months salary that is the most I can get from SCEC (if that much). I made the figures for the San Diego proposal before I started writing.
