It almost sounds like you are finding every excuse NOT to change to another language.

You might be able to do all sorts of things in PERL, but from my point of view, the way you do them is a kludge.

Instead of using one language that is powerful enough to do everything in one program, you are using multiple programs written in various languages and forcing them all to work together with PERL glue. Yes, that's one of the abilities of PERL, but it's like holding parts from a chevy, a ford, and a toyota together with duct tape to make an airplane. Why not just use an airplane?
