Re: Pakistan Earthquake - September 25, 2013 |
Roger, Many of those data are already available. If you visit my forecast Web page you and everyon else can see Chart B that shows when recent EM Signals were detected. For the first part of 2013 I simply had to stop updating that file and others at that site because of time limitations. And part of that was the fact that the USGS kept changing their earthquake list formats faster than I could adjust my computer programs to read them. Their latest search format is still the winner as far as I am concerned, with regard to how difficult it is to get a computer program to extract data from the site. My programs need to actually pause for me to hit the SUBMIT button so that the data will download. Then they can continue with reading the page before they have to pause again so that I can get the data properly read by Windows WordPad. At the momemt I am trying to get Chart B operational again and also totally redo my Year-Chart Web pages to display the latest data. Finally, my Perl forecasting computer programs are running again at full speed. But even under the best conditions they are extremely slow with their calculations. A way around that would be to call a TrueBasic program and have it do the calculations. Unfortunately, unlike Perl, TrueBasic is what I refer to as a processor hog. When running it uses 100% of the processor time even when it is waiting for keyboard input. Do any of the TrueBasic experts know if there is a way to get it to pause for say 1/10 second at a time and then check a file for new data and not keep the processor running during that time? If the system has a dual core processor this is not a problem. TrueBasic keeps one busy. And the other says free for other projects. But most of my systems are single core. So, TrueBasic creates problems when it is kept running in the background. http://www.freewebs.com/eq-forecasting/Data.html Follow Ups: ● Re: Pakistan Earthquake - September 25, 2013 - Roger Hunter 10:40:35 - 9/28/2013 (100925) (1) ● Re: Pakistan Earthquake - September 25, 2013 - Roger Hunter 11:16:50 - 9/28/2013 (100926) (1) ● Re: Pakistan Earthquake - September 25, 2013 - Skywise 16:25:24 - 9/28/2013 (100927) (1) ● Re: Pakistan Earthquake - September 25, 2013 - Roger Hunter 17:24:53 - 9/28/2013 (100928) (1) ● Re: Pakistan Earthquake - September 25, 2013 - Skywise 18:39:25 - 9/28/2013 (100929) (1) ● Re: Pakistan Earthquake - September 25, 2013 - Roger Hunter 19:00:13 - 9/28/2013 (100930) (1) ● Re: Pakistan Earthquake - September 25, 2013 - Skywise 19:58:40 - 9/28/2013 (100931) (1) ● Re: Pakistan Earthquake - September 25, 2013 - EQF 22:06:31 - 9/29/2013 (100932) (1) ● Re: Pakistan Earthquake - September 25, 2013 - Skywise 00:28:00 - 10/1/2013 (100936) (1) ● Re: Pakistan Earthquake - September 25, 2013 - EQF 18:05:54 - 10/1/2013 (100945) (1) ● Re: Pakistan Earthquake - September 25, 2013 - Roger Hunter 18:50:16 - 10/1/2013 (100946) (0) |
