Fair enough. My preferred format is:

1973,01,01,12,45,17.6,40.30,-105,45,4.5,120,"Central Colorado"

In DOS format. This is easily read by PC or humans alike. It can also be column oriented to satisfy those who like to pick things apart thus:

1973, 01, 01, 12, 45, 17.6, 40.30, -105,45, 120, "Central Colorado"

I've emailed NEIC, asking that a simple formatted option be added but so far, no response. It's possible that they are hard pressed to keep things going, what with budget cuts and all.
