Forecasting Update – August 20, 2013

With luck, efforts to get all of my EM Signal data for 2013 processed will be completed later today.

These efforts have been delaying other important projects including some forecasting ones. Once they are completed, forecasting charts will be posted once again to my forecasting Web page.

The amount of data to be processed has been staggering. And each EM Signal time has had to be manually checked for accuracy to ensure that the computer data agree with other computer data and with data stored on written records. Normally my computer programs would automatically process those data. But there have been multiple program and external disk drive failures this past month. And data had to often be stored on written records.

STRAIN BUILDING SOMEWHERE

My EM Signals data and data from researchers in Europe indicate that there appears to be strain building somewhere in a fault zone. The European researchers suspect that it might be in the Indonesia area. I myself won’t be able to check on that until all of my own data have been processed.

My EM Signal data are consistently in excellent agreement with those European researchers’ data. When their ground movement charts show sharp changes in direction, those are the same times that I often detect strong EM Signals. So, even though an earthquake is not occurring at that time those data appear to be indicating that something important is happening in a fault zone somewhere. And it will likely eventually result in a powerful earthquake.

Comparisons are also being made between my EM Signal data and Total Electron Content (TEC) data. The comparisons cannot be finished until all of my data have been updated. But, at first look it appears that I am detecting strong EM Signals generally around the same time when strong TEC signals are appearing on the TEC charts. However, there are one or two day differences between those signal peak times.

So, efforts are underway to compare more and more data from various forecasting methods. Those efforts are scheduled to accelerate when my backlog of EM Signal data have been processed.

These are personal opinions.
