Update – Advisory Time Window Ended - July 8, 2013

MAGNITUDE - There was a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in the Papua New Guinea area on July 7. That is about the magnitude I was originally expecting. I thought it could be 7.5 or higher.

LOCATION - It was in the Western Pacific Ocean Japan to Indonesia area as expected.

TIME WINDOW - And it was in the 5 day time window I was expecting, July 3, 2013 through July 8, 2013.

There are numerous data to evaluate to see if that earthquake or one of the other fairly powerful ones that just occurred was linked with any recent EM Signals. Some of those data are from other earthquake researchers. Plans are to comment on those results here when they are available.

Another medium intensity EM Signal was also detected today at:

2013/07/08 21:59:22 UTC

No additional advisories are being circulated at this time. And I am guessing that whatever was responsible for that strong July 3, 2013 EM Signal is over, be it that Mexico volcano or the PNG area earthquake.

Finally,

As I have said on numerous occasions, my Earthquake Warnings and Advisories posted here are largely to tell researchers around the world:

“You should check your local precursor data NOW to see if you can spot anything unusual that might signal that an earthquake is approaching”

If people had been checking their data for the PNG area during my expected time window, July 3 through July 8, then they might have seen that 7.2 PNG earthquake coming.

These are personal opinions.
