Hi Roger,

This is the first time I have had a chance to look at the EarthWaves board in several days.

Glad to hear that things are improving.

Something that I say to everyone I know is that for medical work, every person needs a backup person who knows something about medicine and who can make certain that all of the doctors efforts are coordinated and that the right prescriptions are ordered and filled etc. And that person or someone else also needs to be available to watch what is taking place when a person goes into the hospital for treatment. It is also helpful if there is a second person for backup for those types of medical work.

Many people die simply becasue they don't have that type of support help available. Little, easily managed problems aren't taken care of at the right time and they turn into big problems. And the big problems then turn into cemetary plots.

Since the beginning of the year I and another person worked in those capacities to help someone survive massive coronary failure and a wide range of other medical problems including repeated bouts with pneumonia.

Neither of us providing the help is a doctor. But the two of us were actually having to make life and death decisions regarding treatment options perhaps twice a week. As the one who has a good medical and scientific background I was providing most of the help regarding decisions concerning pacemakers etc. because the patient was only partly conscious most of the time. Of course actual doctors were making the final decisions. The other support person provided mostly day-to-day help such as running errands.

The effort has been a success in spite of the fact that during that time the person had several complete heart stoppages, one while I was standing just a few feet away. That person is slowly getting strength and coordination back at a recovery facility.

I would hate to see the hospital and doctor bills!!! Fortunately Medicare and private insurance have so far covered almost all of the costs.

I expect that you will be busy for a while with medical and house chores. However, if and when you do get bored there is a TrueBasic program that could use an update. It should be simple work. It is the program that provides country names when you send it the USPS search data that specify latitudes and longitudes for an earthquake.

Something that should be of interest to you and everyone else is the following project that is the primary focus (but just one) of my efforts these days.

Our world is not moving forward with our economic growth and medical research at anywhere near the speed it could and should be moving. One of the main reasons is that people around the world and even government officials simply don’t know what is possible. And because of that the general public can’t pressure governments into making productive changes.

Some Web site work I am doing has the potential to change that. If that effort is successful the U.S. government will be somewhat obligated to make certain changes that large numbers of people would want.

For example, there are a number of important medical projects that need to have some work done on them including one procedure for treating diseases, especially lung cancer, that I am planning to propose. Cancer researchers are aware of the general idea. But no one has ever worked on that procedure apparently because no one has ever thought of using such a procedure to treat illnesses.

Forecasting earthquakes and tornados are other projects for work at that Web site.

Again, glad to hear that things are getting back to normal.

These are personal opinions.
