Moving Our Planet Forward – May 15, 2013

Back in 2012 I arrived at the conclusion that world governments including the U.S. are being so strongly controlled by special interest groups that the only way for us to make rapid progress would be to create privately funded nonprofit foundations that would assemble lists of problems facing the human race and store the lists at Web sites where people could examine them. Governments are not going to admit on their own that various problems exist. News services don’t want to alienate various segments of the general public. And so they often don’t want to talk about certain problems. And if people don’t know that the problems even exist then they can’t put any pressure on governments to fix them.

Two perfect examples were that catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and the nuclear power plant meltdown in Japan. People were unaware that the basic problems were there. And nothing was done until after the disasters occurred.

This lack of information problem is virtually universal. No government wants the general public to know that various problems exist.

The basic cure for that lack of knowledge problem is the Internet. Web sites can be created where various problems are outlined. And solutions can be proposed.

My Energy Islands report is presently in the process of being divided into three separate reports dealing with the Energy Islands, nuclear fission-based power plants, and orbiting solar energy collection systems. The nuclear and Energy Islands reports are about done and will probably be stored on my Web site some time later today or tomorrow. And the general public will then be advised to look at those reports, especially the vastly expanded nuclear energy report. And they can comment on the material. The new addresses will be posted here when they are available.

At least the reports will provide people with information regarding why the nuclear power industry has had so many problems over the years and what might be done to pump some life back into that industry.

As that report says, the “no new nuclear power plants” option does not exist. The People’s Republic of China is reportedly planning on building dozens of new nuclear power plants. And they are certainly not going to listen to environmental groups that might be opposed to the construction of any new power plants. So as my report states, as long as that “no new plants” option doesn’t exist anyway, people might as well learn how to build and run the nuclear power plants correctly in the first place!

These are personal opinions.
