EQF: the first thing that comes to mind is economics. The second things that comes to mind is that different kinds of energy you mention are not co-located, at least in some places. There was an article in Physics Today a decade or more ago that calculated the areas that are needed to make a significant dent in energy for solar. They are huge. There are studies being done for large-scale wind farms offshore east coast. But on the continental shelf, built up from the sea floor. Probably 30 m water depths. Chris
