Re: A new report on PNW Mega-quake

Sadly, this was highlighted heavily in 2001 and was spread all over the major news and news' magazines about how residents simply could not outrun a quake or a tsunami or especially a lahar from Mt. Rainer. I still remember the vivid graphics that they had to illustrate some scenarios (very high-tech at the time) and yet, it seems no one listened enough to take action. Apparently, they still have done little and are still are under-prepared.
When this ghastly scenario does come to fruition, it will be a nightmare. I hope that I never see it. However, it's likely that the same people trying to warn officials today, will likely be those who get blamed. I've been up close to too many disasters, so I admit I'm jaded. But let us remember that even after Katrina, they levee boards took the repair money (some 80 million in one parish as I recall) and never used it for those repairs and preventions. Semi-personal experience would suggest that someone's "brother-in-law" was the benefactor, but I digress. This is about certain disaster as the article clearly described it.
Perhaps these events will miraculously hold off for a century or so, and in that time we humans will evolve into wiser creatures? If not, a whole bunch of people who aren't listening now will likely become a real-life, Darwinian demonstration.
Stay safe, get prepared, and keep telling people wherever they are, that disasters are coming. BTW, if you live in Colorado, prepare for a rough fire season and clear your brush, even if you live on a golf course.
