5 metric tons on our roof |
The problem with a roof with pitch of 14 deg and a winter storm without strong winds, is the snow stays on our roof. HD and I did a quick calculation and before it started melting yesterday, there may have been 5 metric tons on roof (5 cubic meters of water equivalent: roof 10 m x 20 m, and 1" water content = 2.5% of a meter of water, so 2.5% of 200 cubic meters: 5 tons. ) That is not a problem, but a storm tonight and tomorrow will add a similar mass to the roof. I was thinking of shoveling part of the roof but I think enough melted yesterday and today. (I had also done the calculation wrong and throught there was 10 tons, not 5 tons).
