Since someone (Roger likely) will insist that earthquakes can’t be predicted I am going to add the following. And you really need to be a professional analyst and disaster mitigation professional to truly understand what a serious problem this is for a wide variety of problems, not just earthquake forecasting.

Virtually everything having to do with human beings is controlled by special interest groups. Every individual is a special interest group. Babies for example cry for a reason. They want attention. And if that causes their parents to lose some sleep then too bad for the parents.

Oil companies and other energy companies are totally opposed to the U.S. government spending any money on research for developing new, affordable sources of environmentally safe energy. It could cut into their profits.

Many gun rights supporters are likely vehemently opposed to any form of gun control legislation.

Geology specialists can become ill when they hear the words “Earthquake” and “Prediction” in the same sentence. If they were to admit that there is some strong evidence that earthquakes can be predicted then people would be constantly demanding to know why they aren’t predicting them. And that can make life difficult.

The oil companies and the gun rights groups and the geology specialists are not going to change their views and get out of the way for any reason. So, the only way to get new sources of energy developed or get any form of reasonable gun control in place or learn how to forecast earthquakes is to find some way of getting around those human speed bumps.

My new bulletin board program is largely intended to make that possible as far as the geology specialists are concerned. And when is has finally been proven that earthquakes can actually be predicted you can expect geology specialists around the world to all say, “We knew that all along.” Unfortunately, many people will have died, largely unnecessarily, before the geology specialists are going to be willing to admit that truth.

These are personal opinions.
