The uncertainty of it passing us THIS time isn't a problem. It's what this pass by Earth may do to it's orbit, and where it will go NEXT time. That's the uncertainty that won't be known until after it passes and the orbit is re-measured.

This rock is about the same size as that which carved out Meteor Crater in Arizona.
