The geomagnetic storm lasted 27 hours and reached Kp8 for three of three 3 hour periods: Kp9 is highest on the scale:

I don't check space weather daily, but I don't remember seeing a storm this strong in years, maybe many years.
Wonder what Duffy saw on his recordings.
In other news, winter returned and snow is forecast for parts of southern New England. The old snow is still around, but a lot of bare ground also.
